In a solemn memorial service at the Monmouth County Fire Academy on Oct. 2, Freeholder John P. Curley joined firefighters and their families from around Monmouth County to remember the 43 men and women who have lost their lives in the line of firefighting duty, and congratulate those who were awarded citations for bravery this past year.
The NJ Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial is one of best places to remember and give tribute to the men and women who gave their lives during the Vietnam War. With approximately 20 years of history, locals and visitors have been able to tour the memorial and learn more about the sacrifices that were made.
This morning marks the 75 year anniversary of The Morro Castle disaster. If you are not familiar with the Moro Castle, it was the famed ship that ran aground just north of Convention Hall in Asbury Park. The crash was caused by a fast-moving fire that started on the lower level of the ship and quickly spread throughout the vessel, killing 137 passengers and crew members.
