The Maritime Museum is headquartered in the 1868 former carriage house for the Joseph Francis estate. This building was in vary poor condition when the Toms River historical society leased it from the county with the condition that the building be restored and maintained by the Seaport Society. The down-stairs portion of the building, that once housed the carriages and houses, now has the library, ships store, ship model displays, and a small boat display area. Up-stairs was the grooms quarters and hay loft, is now an artifact display room, office, and meeting / work room.

For the Monmouth County 4-H Association, the annual Monmouth County Fair is a showcase of the many achievements and skills that 4‐H members have learned throughout the year. 4-H involves children from kindergarten through one year passed high school (grade 13) in dozens of clubs and activities. Traditional clubs involve livestock and farming activities. But some of the less traditional clubs, like herpetology care for arachnids, newts and salamanders and snakes. Other club members develop skills in crafts, art, photography, writing, dance and theater arts.

Monmouth County government is ramping up its presence at the 2011 Monmouth County Fair with a new “Touch A Truck” event during all five days of the fair, which is held at East Freehold Showgrounds on Kozloski Road. Fairgoers will have an opportunity to see and touch an excavator, road sweeper, bucket truck and a dump truck outfitted with a snowplow. Children will be able to try on some public works safety vests and helmets and control traffic signals as part of this interactive display of equipment.
