Cape May has become one of the most exclusive cities in the New Jersey short region for romantic destinations. From everything from fine dining restaurants to unique bed and breakfasts, this city has something for practically every ‘taste’. If you are visiting the Cape May region, you will notice that there are very few families in the area, instead you will find a practically infinite number of couples seeking an intimate escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
New Jersey residents have taken upon themselves to experience 11 lighthouses within 48 hours. However they didn’t expect to encounter the massive winds and storms that have hit the East Coast in the past couple of days. This annual event continues on, despite the wind and rain. “The die-hards who live to do it and want to do it every year, will do it,” challenge co-chairperson Laura Portee said Saturday. “A lot of people know we’re taking a hiatus in 2010, so that’s an incentive to visit lighthouses this year.”

Point Pleasant, New Jersey was originally settled by Quakers in the 1700′s, and by th early 1800′s had become a tourist destination. One of the most popular spots at Point Pleasant is the boarwalk region. The boardwalk was not built until 1890. However, it was a shappy structure that blew away two years later. The amusement area was switched to Clark’s Landing on the Manasquan River.
Following up on our post from last week, local residents continue to fight hard against New Jersey’s record high property tax rates, and they might be close to getting results. After an eight day feature on property taxation, the APP.com has incited a group of residents to fight the tax crush. One example noted was Tim Freehan, who has personally seen his taxes rise from $1,700 in 1985 to $10,000 this year.
